Fasting & Consecration 2025
At New Born Fellowship Ministries, we start every year off following the principle of fasting and the biblical mandate to consecrate ourselves in order to rededicate ourselves unto God on the Second Sunday of January (Jan 12).

THE FASTING INSTRUCTIONS ARE BELOW
The Biblical Principles of Fasting and Consecration
Fasting and consecration are powerful spiritual disciplines that help believers draw closer to God, gain clarity in their walk with Him, and align themselves with His will. These practices, rooted in scripture, are essential tools for spiritual growth, divine breakthrough, and cultivating a life of holiness.
What Is Fasting?
Fasting is the voluntary abstention from food, drink, or other forms of physical gratification for a set period, done with the purpose of seeking God. It is not just about giving up something; it’s about replacing that thing with intentional prayer, worship, and time in the Word.
Biblical Purpose of Fasting
Drawing Near to God: Fasting helps us focus on God and remove distractions (Joel 2:12).
Seeking Guidance and Wisdom: In Acts 13:2-3, the early church fasted to discern God’s will.
Intercession and Repentance: Fasting can be a response to sin or a crisis, as seen in Daniel 9:3-5 and Jonah 3:5-10.
Spiritual Strength and Victory: Jesus fasted for 40 days before beginning His ministry, defeating the temptations of Satan (Matthew 4:1-11).

What Is Consecration?
Consecration is the act of setting oneself apart for God’s purposes, dedicating one’s life, time, and resources wholly to Him. It is an intentional commitment to live a holy and pure life, free from sin and worldly distractions.

Biblical Purpose of Consecration
Sanctification: Consecration is a response to God’s call to be holy, as He is holy (1 Peter 1:15-16).
Surrender: It symbolizes giving up personal desires and surrendering completely to God’s will (Romans 12:1-2).
Service: Consecration equips us for effective ministry and service to God (Joshua 3:5).

How Fasting & Consecration Work Together
Fasting and consecration are interconnected. Fasting without consecration becomes a mere ritual, but when paired with a heart devoted to God, it becomes a powerful tool for transformation and intimacy with Him. Together, they enable believers to:
Hear God’s Voice Clearly: By silencing the noise of the world.
Experience Spiritual Breakthroughs: Breaking strongholds and walking in victory (Isaiah 58:6).
Renew Their Commitment to God: A deeper surrender to His will.

Spiritual Encouragement:
“Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?” – Isaiah 58:6
“Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” – Joshua 3:5
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” – Matthew 5:6

Fasting and consecration are acts of worship and obedience that position us to encounter God in profound ways. As you embark on this spiritual journey, know that God honors the sacrifice of those who seek Him earnestly and will reward you with His presence, peace, and power.

Are you ready to take this step of faith? Let’s seek God together through fasting and consecration and prepare for the amazing things He will do in and through us!
